What GigRank is

GigRank is an AI-powered tool that helps freelancers optimize their Upwork profiles for better visibility and more client invites. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and how we protect it. GigRank is not affiliated with Upwork Global Inc.

Data we collect

Profile text you submit for analysis

When you use the analyzer, you paste or type your Upwork profile details (title, professional overview, skills, hourly rate). This text is sent to our AI models for analysis.

Account data

If you create an account, we store your email address, a hashed version of your password (never the plain-text password), and your selected plan. We never ask for or store your Upwork login credentials.

Analysis results

Running an analysis requires a free or paid account. We store your analysis scores, section breakdowns, and AI-generated suggestions so you can revisit them in your dashboard, compare over time, and track progress. Free-tier storage follows the limits shown on the pricing page.

Technical & usage data

We use PostHog for product analytics. This collects anonymous usage events (pages visited, features used), browser type, and approximate location. We do not track individual keystrokes or record sessions.

How we use your data

  • AI analysis: Your profile text is sent to third-party AI infrastructure providers we use as data processors. They process your content only to deliver the service and do not use it to train public models. Contact us if you need the current list of subprocessors.
  • Product improvement: Anonymous usage analytics help us understand which features are valuable and where users get stuck.
  • Emails: We use Resend to send transactional emails only — account welcome, password reset, and contact-form replies. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
  • Payments: Subscription payments are handled by SafePay. We never see or store your full card number. SafePay's own privacy policy governs payment data.

What we do not do

  • We never ask for or store your Upwork password or login.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not use your profile text to train our own models or any third-party models.
  • We do not scrape Upwork on your behalf.

Cookies

We use a session cookie (JWT) to keep you logged in. PostHog may set a cookie for analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used. You can clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Data storage & security

Account and analysis data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. We apply rate limiting and input sanitization to protect against abuse. No system is 100% secure — we follow industry best practices and continuously review our security posture.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated analyses from your dashboard settings. Upon deletion, we remove your data from our active database within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics are retained.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us through the contact form or the support email in the app to exercise these rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
